Summary

In this chapter we are introduced to Ryan.  Ryan made a paper for the school, which was filled with things that he had found or stumbled across.  He “found one of Hannah’s poems and put it in the paper.  Hannah and Ryan had traded notebooks and read each other’s poems.  Ryan put it in his paper, after that everyone was trying to figure out what it really meant, who wrote it, why they wrote it?  But Hannah never came out and revealed that it was her poem.

Analysis

Hannah let her real feelings and emotions come out in her poems.  This is where she revealed herself.  When Ryan “took” her poem and let everyone see it is was as if he was taking her away.  He was taking away her secrets, feelings, motions, and opening her up to the world in a way that she did not want to be shown.  They were not his poems to print and copy, they were not his words, and it was not just a poem, it was another reason for Hannah baker to kill herself.
